Udo Leuschner (born July 13, 1944 in Bitterfeld ) is a German journalist and writer .

Life

After an internship at the Westdeutsche Tageblatt in Dortmund, which he started in 1963 , he became an editor for politics there. In 1965 he switched to the political editorial team of the Spandauer Volksblatt newspaper in West Berlin, which tried to establish itself as a left-liberal alternative to the Springer press. After the failure of this journalistic experiment, Leuschner moved to the local department: from 1967 as local editor for the West Berlin tabloid Der Abend and from 1968 as local editor for Mannheimer Morgen . At Mannheimer Morgen he was dismissed in 1972 because of his private engagement as chairman of the Republican Club Mannheim-Ludwigshafen and press spokesman for the Young Democrats . He then became editor of the PPA news agency in Mannheim, most recently as office manager responsible for the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland (1973–1990). This was followed by another activity as an editor and PR officer in the field of public relations for the electricity industry (initially until the end of 2000 in the information center of the electricity industry and, after its dissolution, until the end of 2005 for the Association of the Electricity Industry ).

Leuschner has been running the Energie-Chronik website since October 2000 with a monthly overview of the most important events in the energy industry and policy from 1991 onwards. This information service emerged from an in-house publication of the German electricity industry and has been supplemented by the "Background" section since 2008.

Udo Leuschner is active in the German Language Association (VDS) and lives in Heidelberg .
