Wilhelmine Lübke Prize
The Wilhelmine Lübke Prize was founded in 1969 by the wife of the former Federal President Heinrich Lübke , Wilhelmine Lübke . It was awarded until 1995. For 1980, “ DM 20,000 annually” is shown, which was awarded as prize money - whether this was to be understood as a total amount or per awardee cannot yet be verified.
In 1962, Wilhelmine Lübke and her husband founded the Kuratorium Deutsche Altershilfe (KDA). This became her life's work as the “Wilhelmine Lübke Foundation” and awarded the Wilhelmine Lübke Prize. Among other things, Lübke developed the idea of introducing meals on wheels as well as the basics for short-term and day care for the elderly.
The prize was awarded for work that deals with the problems of aging and old age in a particularly qualified manner and / or presents the image of old people and their possibilities in old age, free of clichés and impressively human. Purely scientific works could not be considered because they were not understandable for the normal, interested citizen.
The jury was made up of members of the Board of Trustees of German Elderly Aid , representatives of gerontology , elderly welfare and journalism . The prize was awarded in Cologne .
