The State Academy in Esslingen

The State Academy for Further Education and Personnel Development at Schools in Baden-Württemberg ( LA ) was a further education institution of the State of Baden-Württemberg from 2004 to 2019 with its headquarters in Leinfelden-Echterdingen in the legal form of a legally competent public-law institution . It was founded on the basis of the Baden-Württemberg law for the establishment of the state academy for further training and personnel development in schools . It was created in 2004 from the merger of the previously independent state academies for teacher training . Legal supervision was carried out by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Culture, Youth and Sport .

On February 28, 2019, the State Academy was dissolved with the implementation of the law for the implementation of the quality concept for public schools in Baden-Württemberg . According to Article 3, the tasks were transferred to the newly established Center for School Quality and Teacher Training .

Board

The board of directors ran the day-to-day business and represented the state academy. All matters not assigned to the Supervisory Board by law or the Articles of Association fell within its responsibility. The appointment was made by the Ministry of Culture in agreement with the Supervisory Board. The first director of the State Academy for Further Education and Personnel Development at Schools as chairman of the board was a temporary civil servant for five years with the possibility of re-appointment. The director was classified in grade B 2 , his deputy, the "Director at the State Academy for Further Education and Personnel Development at Schools as Deputy Chairman of the Board" in grade A 16 .

The first CEO until mid-November 2010 was Hans-Peter Buggermann. Before that, he headed the former State Academy for Teacher Training in Business and Technology since 1991 (now: State Academy for Teacher Training Esslingen ). On November 10, 2010, his activity on the board ended. His successor was Hans-Reiner Soppa, who has been deputy chairman of the board since 2004 and previously headed the academy in Comburg ( Schwäbisch Hall ) since 1997 . The last deputy director was Helmut Nagel, director of the state academy in Bad Wildbad. The board was completed by Elisabeth Moser, director of the Esslingen site since 2010. Before that, she was the headmaster of the Robert Bosch School in Stuttgart between 2004 and 2010 . From 1996 to 2002 she was at what was then the High School Office in Stuttgart, but in the same year she moved to the Ministry of Education and Culture. There she had taken on tasks in the field of teacher training.

Locations

The three locations Bad Wildbad , Comburg and Esslingen am Neckar each had their own profile, which found its specific expression for the different types of schools and training topics.

The academy courses were attended by around 32,000 teachers each year for professional and personal development. The well over 1,000 courses were supervised by 3,700 course leaders and speakers.

After the dissolution, the three locations continued as branches of the Center for School Quality and Teacher Training.

Legal mandate and duties

One task was the central concept development and qualification of the training and advisory staff (multipliers) as well as the organization of qualification offers for the educational management staff and for teachers with special tasks in the school system.

Another task was the provision of technical / content-related further training offers for special groups and the implementation of desired courses for schools. The areas of responsibility also included advising schools and school administration in the area of ​​further training.

The orientation of the individual locations

The individual locations specialized in different types of schools and areas of responsibility: At the Comburg , management training courses took place, in Bad Wildbad , since the 2007/2008 school year, training courses for teachers in general schools and special schools have been offered. Esslingen was the training center for vocational schools.

Cooperation with other institutions

The state academy worked together with other institutions if this supported the objectives of the state academy, in particular with the state seminars for didactics and teacher training , with universities, with business institutions such as chambers, associations and companies, with institutions of the churches, with institutions of advanced and further training as well as with other regional, national, European and other international institutions and partners.

Comenius EduMedia Award

On June 19, 2009, the award event of the Comenius competition took place in the Haus des Handwerks in Berlin . The Landesakademie's teacher training server was awarded a “ Comenius EduMedia Seal ” in the adult education category at this event .

European language seal

The Landesakademie educational project "German-French virtual online market - application-oriented language learning by setting up virtual companies and handling business processes" was awarded the European Language Seal 2011 as part of the competition "Language learning in the community - using resources and developing skills" . The main content of the project was developed in cooperation with the French school "Lycée Alexandre Dumas" in Illkirch ( Alsace ) and the commercial school in Tauberbischofsheim .
