Jörg Schmidt (politician)
Jörg Schmidt (born October 25, 1960 in Pforzheim ) is a German state and local politician ( SPD ). From 2000 to 2013 he was Lord Mayor of the large district town of Radolfzell on Lake Constance . From August 1, 2013, Schmidt was ministerial director in the Ministry of Culture of the State of Baden-Württemberg . October 12, 2015 to May 31, 2016 he was President of the Government of the administrative district of Tübingen .
Life
After graduating from high school in Pforzheim in 1980, Jörg Schmidt did basic military service and studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 1982 to 1987 , where he passed the first state examination in law. This was followed by legal clerkship in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg from 1987 to 1990 , which he completed with the second state examination. In 1994 he was at the University of Munich with a dissertation on the legal scholar Otto Koellreutter to Dr. iur. PhD . From September 1990 to June 1991 he worked as a lawyer.
Jörg Schmidt then worked for the Karlsruhe Regional Council, the Leipzig Regional Council, the LRA Karlsruhe, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Social Affairs and the Stuttgart Regional Council until 2000 .
Schmidt completed his training as a mediator in 2017 and has been admitted to the bar since April 2018

After a career in the interior administration of the state of Baden-Württemberg, Schmidt succeeded Günter Neurohr as Lord Mayor of the city of Radolfzell in September 2000 . On October 19, 2008, he was confirmed in office for a further eight years. From August 1, 2013 he was Head of the Ministry of Education Minister Andreas Stoch as Ministerial Director .
In September 2015, Jörg Schmidt was appointed regional president of the Tübingen administrative district with effect from October 12, 2015. He succeeded Hermann Strampfer, who died in office . On May 31, 2016, Schmidt was put into temporary retirement by Prime Minister Kretschmann, at the same time as his Stuttgart counterpart Johannes Schmalzl .
Honorary positions
Until 2019, Jörg Schmidt was chairman of the Radolfzell local association of the German Red Cross for 15 years .
Since September 11, 2016 Schmidt has been honorary president of the Swabian Choir Association , the second largest regional choir association in Germany. Schmidt has been Vice President of the German Choir Association since February 24, 2018 .
