Günter Neurohr

Günter Neurohr (born March 8, 1935 in Kaiserslautern , † February 19, 2011 in Kreuzlingen ) was a German local politician .

Life

After studying engineering, Günter Neurohr was initially head of the Crailsheim municipal utilities from 1965 to 1970 . From 1970 to 1976 he was alderman and mayor in Singen am Hohentwiel .

After the death of the Mayor of Radolfzell, Fritz Riester, in 1976, he became his successor and remained Mayor of the large district town of Radolfzell on Lake Constance until 2000 . Neurohr was originally a member of the SPD , but later joined the CDU . He also left this and was in office as a non-party mayor. He was particularly committed to environmental and nature conservation and was one of the first German mayors to initiate an environmental agency.

After his retirement he lived mainly in Spain. On February 18, 2011, Neurohr suffered a stroke and was taken to a heart clinic in Constance . He was then transferred to a clinic in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland . He was married four times and had three children. He was buried in the Radolfzell forest cemetery.

The Günter-Neurohr-Bridge to the Mettnau peninsula in Radolfzell was named after him during his lifetime.
