Ann Wilson (athlete)

Ann Wilson ( Ann Shirley Wilson, married Simmonds; born September 29, 1949 in Rochford , Essex ) is a former British pentathlon , hurdler , long jumper and high jumper .

At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston in 1966 she was starting for England , she was sixth in the 80 m hurdles , seventh in the high jump and ninth in the long jump. At the European Athletics Championships in Budapest she was ninth in the pentathlon.

Two years later she came in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City in the long jump in 13th place and in the pentathlon in 16th place. She was eliminated in the pre-run over 80 m hurdles .

In 1970 she was eighth in the long jump at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Vienna . At the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh she won silver in the high jump, long jump and pentathlon.

At the Olympic Games in 1972 she failed over 100 m hurdles in the preliminary run and took 13th place in the pentathlon .

In 1974 she won bronze in the pentathlon at the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch . She was seventh in the high jump, twelfth in the long jump, and she reached the semi-finals over 100 m hurdles . At the European Championships in Rome she came in 13th place in the pentathlon.

In 1972 and 1974 she became the English pentathlon champion. She was twice English indoor champion in the 60 m hurdles (1971, 1972) as well as in the high jump (1971, 1974) and once in the long jump (1970).
