Robert Wells (boxer)

Robert Wells (born May 15, 1961 in London ) is a former British super heavyweight boxer (+ 91 kg).

Robert Wells is the son of boxer William Robert "Billy" Wells, who competed in the 1968 Olympic Games and finished 9th in the heavyweight division.

Robert Wells trained at the Kingston Amateur Boxing Club and was English champion in 1984, defeating Everett McLean in the final. He then took part in the 23rd Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in 1984 , where he won the bronze medal. He defeated Viliami Pulu from Tonga by knockout in the first round, but was defeated in the semifinals by the Italian Francesco Damiani by breaking off the referee in round 3.

In 1986 and 1989 he played five professional fights in London , Tallinn and Moscow , of which he won three.
