Sheila Carey
Sheila Carey ( Sheila Janet Carey, née Taylor; born August 12, 1946 in Coventry ) is a former British middle-distance runner .
At the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968, she was fourth in the 800 m in 2: 03.8 minutes, 1.2 seconds behind bronze medalist Maria Gommers .
In 1970 she was starting eighth over 800 m for England at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh . The following year she came at the European Athletics Championships in 1971 in Helsinki over 1500 m in eleventh place.
At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, she was fifth in the 1500 m . With her time of 4: 04.81 min she stayed below the world record set by Lyudmila Bragina , who won in 4: 01.38 min, in the semifinals.
In 1974 she was eliminated from the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch over 800 m in the run and was eleventh over 1500 m.
In 1970 she became English champion over 800 m, in 1967 and 1969 English indoor champion over 880 yards and 800 m and in 1972 Scottish champion over 800 m.
