Iain Somerled MacDonald-Smith (born July 3, 1945 in Oxford ) is a former British sailor .
successes
Iain MacDonald-Smith took part in the Olympic Games twice. In 1968 in Mexico City he was bowhead in front of Rodney Pattison and became Olympic champion with this by a very large margin . In the total of seven races, she was five times first and once second with one result, so she only got three total points. The second-placed German boat with Ullrich Libor and Peter Naumann achieved 43.7 total points, followed by the Brazilians in third place with 48.4 points. In 1969 in Naples and in 1970 in Adelaide , MacDonald-Smith and Pattison were both world champions . After the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich belonged only to the reserve, he took again in 1976 in Montreal at the Games in part, this time in the boat class Soling .
