Earle Leonard Wells (born October 27, 1933 in Auckland ) is a former New Zealand sailor .

Earle Wells participated in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo in part, where he met the Flying Dutchman started. At the side of Helmer Pedersen he won the competition before the British Tony Morgan and Keith Musto and the Americans William Bentsen and Harry Melges , so that Wells and Pedersen were Olympic champions . Wells sailed five times in the Sydney-Hobart regatta .
In 1972 he and his wife bought a furniture factory, which they ran until 1990. They then moved to Whakatane , where they ran an animal farm. In 1990 Wells and Pedersen were inducted into the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame .
