Peder Lunde (born February 9, 1942 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian sailor who became Olympic champion in 1960.

Career

The sailing regattas of the 1960 Olympic Games took place in the Gulf of Naples . The Flying Dutchman (FD) boat class was part of the Olympic program for the first time . Together with Bjørn Bergvall , Peder Lunde became the first Olympic champion in this boat class on the FD Sirene . This earned him the Fearnleys olympiske ærespris in his home country . Eight years later at the Olympic regattas off Acapulco (Mexico) he won the silver medal together with Per Olav Wiken in the star boat , which again bore the name Sirene .

Peder Lunde married the Norwegian skier Aud Hvammen .

Peder Lunde's parents Peder Lunde Senior and Vibeke Lunde had jointly won Olympic silver in the 5.5 mR class off Helsinki (Finland) in 1952 . His grandfather Eugen Lunde had become Olympic champion in the boat class 6mR in 1924 in front of Le Havre (France) . Peder Lunde junior was the first athlete in the history of the modern Olympic Games to win a medal in the third generation. In 1972 Pál Gerevich from the fencing dynasty Bogen-Gerevich also succeeded in this series , in 1984 the hockey player Andreas Keller was the third athlete to succeed in this series.
