Domingo José Manrique de Lara Peñate (born February 24, 1962 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ) is a former Spanish sailor .
successes
Domingo Manrique took part in four Olympic Games . In Seoul , he went in 1988 in his Olympic debut in the boat class Soling at the start and finished in this regatta in 17th place. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , he sailed in the Flying Dutchman boat class , where he achieved his greatest success: together with Luis Doreste , thanks to 29.7 total points, he became Olympic champion ahead of the Americans Paul Foerster and Stephen Bourdow as well as Jens and Jørgen Bojsen-Møller from Denmark. The year before he had already won bronze with Doreste at the World Championships in Tauranga . The Games in 1996 in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney he played again in the Soling, he took it the eighth and the 15th place. In 1993 he secured the bronze medal at the World Championships in Paleo Faliro in Soling . Two years later he became world champion in Kingston in Soling.
