Ronald Jones (athlete)

Ronald "Ron" Jones (born August 19, 1934 in Aberdare ) is a former British sprinter .

At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff in 1958 , he came in fifth place with the Welsh 4-by-110-yard relay.

In 1962 he won at the European Athletics Championships in Belgrade with the British team bronze in the 4-by-100-meter relay and at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth also bronze with the Welsh 4-by-110-yard relay .

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 he was eighth in the British 4 x 100 meter relay.

In 1966 he was fourth at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston with the Welsh 4-by-110-yard relay. At the European Championships in Budapest , he reached the semi-finals over 100 m and was fifth with the British 4 x 100 meter relay.

At the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968 , he reached the quarter-finals over 100 m and the semi-finals in the 4 x 100 meter relay. In 1969 he was eliminated from the EM in Athens over 100 m in the semifinals, in 1970 at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in the quarter-finals.

In 1969 he was English champion over 100 m.
