Frans Van Holder

Frans Van Holder (born October 26, 1881 in Ixelles / Elsene , † March 15, 1919 in Geneva ) was a Belgian painter.

He began to work as a painter-decorator in his father's workshop. Numerous salons and interiors of the Brussels bourgeoisie were designed and painted by the Van Holder workshop.

Frans Van Holder studied at the art academy in the Brussels district of Saint-Gilles / Sint-Gillis with Alfred Cluysenaar .

He went on study trips to Spain, Italy and Switzerland. From 1905 he was a member of the “L'Effort” and “Pour l'Art” artists' associations.

His works were influenced by impressionism and Belgian luminism .
