Daniel "Dan" Koppen (* 12. September 1979 in Dubuque , Iowa ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the center . He played for the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

Koppen attended Boston College and was the first center there for three years. In 2003 he was selected by the New England Patriots in the fifth round of the NFL Draft . It was actually only intended as a reserve for the Patriots' center at the time, Damien Woody . However, due to an injury Woodys Koppen became a regular player. After the Patriots won Super Bowl XXXVIII , Woody moved to the Detroit Lions . Koppen remained a starter and was able to win a Super Bowl ( Super Bowl XXXIX ) with the Patriots for the second time the following year . In 2005 Koppen injured himself and could not play. In the first game of the 2011 season in Miami, Koppen broke his ankle and was replaced by Dan Connolly . Nevertheless, Tom Brady achieved with 517 yards the fifth largest gain in space that an NFL quarterback ever achieved. Koppen signed with the Denver Broncos for the 2012 NFL season and retired in 2013.

Private life

Koppen's wife Amber (2004 photo) was a cheerleader for the New England Patriots.

Koppen is married to his wife Amber, a former New England Patriots cheerleader, and the daughter of ex-Patriots player Mark van Eeghen . They have one son.
