José Navarro Morenes , Conde de Casa Loja, (* December 8, 1897 in Madrid ; † December 13, 1974 ibid.) Was a Spanish show jumper and professional officer.

Career

José Navarro Morenes completed his officer training at the Cavalry School of Valladolid. In 1924 he took part in the Olympic Games in Paris with Grande Couronne . He took eighth place with the team and 30th place in the individual ranking.

Four years later, seven riders reached the jump-off for the medals at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam . José Navarro Morenes rode flawlessly with Zapatazo and finished fifth in the individual ranking. The Spanish team with Morenes and José Álvarez de Bohórquez on Zalamero and Julio García Fernández on Revistade achieved first place in the addition of the results of the individual evaluation and thus won the gold medal in the team ahead of the Poles and the Swedes.

In 1936, José Navarro Morenes was already in Berlin with the Spanish team to take part in the Olympic equestrian competitions. When the Spanish Civil War broke out , the Spanish officers were ordered back.

Even so, Navarro Morenes took part in the Olympic Games for a third time. At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 , he finished tenth in the individual ranking with Quórum . As in 1924 and 1928, the team result was also determined in 1948 by adding up the individual results. With Marcellino Gavilán on Forajido and Jaime García on Bizarro , Navarro Morenes won the silver medal behind the Mexican team.

In 1951, José Navarro Morenes had to end his riding career after an accident. In the Spanish Armed Forces he rose to Brigadier General. At times he worked directly with General Franco , so in 1941 he became Franco's field adjudicator.
