In October 2012 Björn Nagel announced that he wanted to start again for Germany in the future. Nagel commented on this: “ We did not part in a dispute. I had really interesting six years with Alexandr Onnischenko's team, but now I have new goals. You develop further and set different priorities. “Due to a regulation of the World Equestrian Federation FEI , Nagel was not allowed to take part in World Cup competitions , Nations Cups and international championships for two years .
