Maurice Tebbel (born April 23, 1994 ) is a German show jumper .

Career

Successes in youth sports

Maurice Tebbel was born in 1994 as the son of show jumper and stallion owner René Tebbel and his wife Erika. Like his younger sister Justine (* 1998), he was in contact with horses from a young age and began his tournament career as a pony rider. He is based at his parents' riding facility in Emsbüren .

Tebbel was nominated for the German Pony Show Jumping Championships for the first time at the age of 11. In 2007 he won his first international championship with the New Forest pony Patty , the European Pony Show Jumping Championships. While he was still in midfield, several successes followed in 2008: nationally he was German pony rider champion with Giovanni and vice-champion in the juniors on large horses with Merry Christmas , internationally he was vice-European junior champion. In 2009 he was able to defend his pony rider championship and was also able to secure the prize for the best pony riders. With the large horse Kira Bell , which his father had ridden internationally before, he came third at the 2009 HGW Junior Championships in Braunschweig.

The traditional end of the year for young show jumping riders, the Salut Festival in Aachen, was just as successful for Maurice Tebbel: He won the team cup for juniors and young riders together with Laura Klaphake , Tobias Meyer and Patrick Stühlmeyer for the Weser-Ems regional association. He also won the individual competition here, the indoor championship of the juniors (he always rode Merry Christmas ).

With the switch to large horses, there was also increasing success in jumping competitions in the advanced level . After victories in national S ** class prizes in Lastrup and Haselünne in 2010, the Golden Riding Badge was awarded in the same year . At the European Junior Championships in 2010, he narrowly missed an individual medal, and the team won the gold medal.

In 2011 a third place was recorded at the German Junior Championships; In 2012, Cooper had the great international individual success, winning the individual European title. From 2013 to 2015 he took part in the European Young Rider Championships. Outside the European championships there were also deployments under the German flag, for example at the Young Rider Nations Cup at the CSIOJ "Future Champions" in Hagen am Teutoburg Forest 2014 (second place with Cooper ). In addition to the Young Rider competitions, Tebbel received more and more of the Opportunity to start at larger international tournaments, for example, he finished second in the final of the medium tour at the CSI 4 * CHI Donaueschingen 2013 with Akku and eleventh in the World Cup competition in Stuttgart (CSI 5 * -W) with Cooper .

Maurice Tebbel has been part of the perspective group of the German jumping team since 2015. In July 2016 he got the chance to compete at the CHIO Aachen . He took advantage of this and came second in the traditional North Rhine-Westphalia Prize on Friday with Chacco's Son .

In the 2016/2017 indoor season he got the chance to compete in several world cup tournaments . But already the first start was prevented by a find: Maurice Tebbel found a pain reliever paste in his horse Chacco's Son at the World Cup tournament in Lyon, whereupon the start was withdrawn. His father reported the incident to the tournament management and arranged for a medication check. Although no top places in the World Cup competitions were achieved at the other World Cup starts in London and Leipzig, Tebbel was able to recommend himself for the 2017 outdoor season.

The 2017 season required a new line-up in German show jumping: none of the pairs in the bronze team of the 2016 Olympic Games were available for Nations Cups. At the very first test of the Europa League 1 of the Nations Cup, the Lummen Nations Cup, Maurice Tebbel got the chance to make his first Nations Cup appearance in the “rider” age group. He rode Chacco`s Son here , Germany finished the test victorious. Another Nations Cup event followed in La Baule . On top of that, he got the opportunity to start again at the CHIO Aachen, where he completed two clear rounds in the Nations Cup with his horse Chacco`s Son and led the German team to victory as the final rider . This was followed by Tebbel's nomination for the 2017 European Championships .

In 2018 he was part of the victorious Nations Cup team at the CHIO Aachen . A few weeks later he won the team bronze medal at the World Championships in Tryon.
