Tobias Meyer (born May 28, 1988 in Bad Oldesloe ) is a German show jumper .

In April 2019 he was number 92 in the world rankings.

Career

Tobias Meyer first came into contact with horses at the age of eleven, after moving to Friesoythe . He started riding while on vacation at a pony farm. Later he decided to go show jumping and was given the opportunity to train with the show jumper Otto Vaske. In his time as a junior , Meyer did his apprenticeship at Gestüt Sprehe and was trained here by Rene Tebbel .

In 2005 he took part in the European Jumping Championships for juniors (13th place with aperitif ). In the following year Tobias Meyer and Loriot S became both German junior vice-champion and European team champion of young riders (9th place in the individual ranking). In 2007 he worked in Dallgow near Berlin.

From 2008 he worked in the stable of the Puschak family in Bonstetten, Bavaria . Here he was provided with good horses and had the chance to compete in major international tournaments in Germany as well as in nearby countries. In the first year in the Puschak stable, he and Annabell won the German Show Jumping Championship in the young rider age group.

He left the Puschak stable twice for a few months: in 2009 he temporarily returned to the Sprehe stud, and in 2012 he worked for Karl Schneider on the Rodderberg . In 2011 he won the Grand Prix of the CSI 2 * Offenburg and the CSI 2 * Spangenberg with Lucrate D`eau Grenou . In the same year he played his first Nations Cup as part of the German team in Bratislava .

During this time Meyer was part of the DOKR's perspective group jumping and managed to be included in the German B2 squad of show jumping riders due to his performance. At the end of 2012, Tobias Meyer's and the Puschak family's wagons separated, and several horses were taken over by Katharina Offel . Meyer was now employed again at the Sprehe stud. In August 2014 he achieved another major success by winning the CSI 2 * Verden Grand Prix.

In June 2015 Meyer moved again to the Puschak stable for a few months, from December 2015 he worked as a rider for Jochen Scherer in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid. At the German Championships in 2016, he finished fifth with Coolmann . His greatest individual success in international tournament sport was the victory of the Grand Prix of the CSI 5 * EQUITA Lyon with Cathleen in October 2016. At the German championships in 2017, he came ninth with Avanti .

Tobias Meyer has been working as a rider at Stud Sprehe again since March 2018. In the summer of 2018 he won two international Grand Prix with the Hanoverian stallion Special One : at the beginning of July the CSI 3 * Dettighofen (Hofgut Albführung) and four weeks later the Grand Prix of the Equestrian City Verden (CSI 2 *). In the 2018/2019 indoor season, he won the Grand Prix of Salzburg (CSI 4 * with Queentina ) and Neustadt (Dosse) (CSI 2 * with Samurai ). In May 2019 Tobias Meyer succeeded in winning the Groß Viegel Grand Prix near Rostock (CSI 4 * with Quintair ) and a week later a second place in the Nörten-Hardenberg Grand Prix (CSI 3 * with Gain Line ).
