Thomas Voss

Thomas Voss (born July 11, 1955 in Wuppertal-Elberfeld ) is a German sociologist.

Voss studied social sciences and philosophy at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum from 1974 to 1980 , received his doctorate from the University of Munich in 1984 and completed his habilitation there in 1990. In the same year he was a visiting asst. Professor at the University of Chicago . After a substitute chair in Stuttgart , he has been professor at the Institute for Sociology at the University of Leipzig since 1992 .

His areas of work are: Theoretical Sociology; Methodology and philosophy of science ; History of theory; Empirical organizational research and economic sociology .
