Dermott Lennon

Dermott Lennon (born June 12, 1969 in Banbridge , Northern Ireland ) is a Northern Irish show jumper who starts for Ireland in international equestrian sport. He lives in Banbridge, Northern Ireland, and runs a riding and trading stable there with his wife and brother. He has a daughter.

Career

Lennon's parents already had a couple of ponies. Dermott Lennon decided at the age of 19 to go to England and concentrate completely on the cavalry. After two and a half years he returned from there and ran from Northern Ireland from the equestrian sport. In 1999 he was able to take part in international tournaments for the first time with the only eight-year-old Liscalgot . In 2001 he won the gold medal with the Irish team at the European Show Jumping Championships in Arnhem.

He celebrated his greatest success in 2002 with the surprising win of the World Championship in Jerez on his horse Liscalgot . As a result he lived in the Netherlands for a few years, but then returned to his hometown.

He could not take part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens because Liscalgot was injured for a long time. This injury turned out to be so serious that it was decided to take Liscalgot out of active sports.

After the end of Liscalgot's career , Lennon could not build on old successes. Since the end of 2007 he has again successfully presented a horse in international tournament sport with Hallmark Elite . With this he was successful at several Grand Prix in Portugal in summer 2009, at the end of February 2010 he reached third place with Hallmark Elite in the Gothenburg World Cup evaluation test. The 2009/2010 World Cup season he finished with a fifth place in the World Cup final with Hallmark Elite .
