Chaz Jankel

Chaz Jankel (born April 16, 1952 in Stanmore , London ; also Chas Jankel , real name Charles Jeremy Jankel ) is an English musician.

Music career

Jankel had worked as a keyboardist, guitarist and songwriter for Ian Dury and the Blockheads since the late 1970s , where he wrote Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll , among other things . Jankel is credited with the funk influence in the music of the blockheads. In the early 1980s, Jankel started his solo career, which produced a chart hit in 1982 with the single Ai no Corrida . Ai no Corrida became a world hit in the 1981 version of Quincy Jones . The strong funky single Glad To Know You , a release from the album Chasanova , was also a great success for Jankel in 1982 worldwide.

After a solo career in America in the 1990s, Jankel returned to the blockheads and worked with Dury on his last two albums, Mr. Love Pants and Ten More Turnips From The Tip . Since Ian Dury's death in 2000, Chaz Jankel has continued to perform with his band under the name Blockheads .

Jankel also worked as a film musician, for example on DOA - Murder On Arrival .
