Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on May 12, 1989 that director Julien Temple had based the visual style of the film on The Little Horror Shop and on the works of John Waters . He wrote that he had fun watching the film.

The lexicon of international films said: “Poppy mixture of science fiction film, musical and love story, whose partly harmless, partly dirty gags are purely an end in themselves. A comedy that lacks any ironic distance and at most is a bit of pleasure thanks to the brightly colored optical processing in CinemaScope. "

Awards

Oliver Stapleton was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award in 1990 for camera work . Julien Temple was nominated for a prize at the Portuguese Festival Internacional de Cinema do Porto in 1990. Angelyne was nominated for the Golden Raspberry in 1990 for her supporting role .

particularities

The German title is borrowed from a text passage from the very successful pop hit Codo (1983) by the band Deutsch-Österreichisches Feingefühl , which reads: “Codo, the third from the center of the stars”.
