Alina Ilnasowna Sagitowa ( Tatar Алинә Илназ кызы Заһитова Alinä Ilnaz kızı Zahitova ; Russian Алина Ильназовна Загитова Alina Ilnasowna Sagitowa ; English Alina Zagitova * 18th May 2002 in Izhevsk , Udmurtia ) is a Russian figure skater , in the individual race starts. She is the 2018 Olympic champion , the 2019 world champion and the 2018 European champion .
Life
Alina Sagitova is a Tatar Muslim woman . Her father Ilnas Sagitow is a former ice hockey player and current ice hockey coach near Ischstal Izhevsk , who, like his wife Leissan, comes from Tatarstan . Sagitova has a younger sister, Sabina, who is also a figure skater. She herself was without a first name for a year and then received it after the rhythmic gymnast Alina Kabaeva .
Athletic career
She started figure skating when she was five. Today she is trained by Eteri Tutberidze and Sergei Dudakov in Moscow. She made her international debut in August 2016 with first place at the ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) competition in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains . She also won the JGP final. Sagitova became the first female junior in history to score more than 200 points. At the Russian championships in Chelyabinsk in 2016/17 , she was runner-up. In the 2016/17 season, Sagitova was unable to start internationally with the women because of her age.
At the beginning of her first senior season in 2017/18, she immediately won her two Grand Prix, then both the Grand Prix final and the European Championship. She then became the second youngest Olympic champion after Tara Lipinski and almost incidentally set a new world record in the short program. In the following season Sagitowa was able to become world champion for the first time in Saitama . In the 2019/20 season she qualified for the Grand Prix final, in which, however, she finished last. A few weeks later she did not take part in the Russian championships . However, she wants to continue her sporting career.
