Aljona Igorewna Leonowa ( Russian Алёна Игоревна Леонова ; born November 23, 1990 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a Russian figure skater who starts in a single run .

Leonowa is the junior world champion of 2009. Her greatest success so far is winning the silver medal at the World Championships in Nice 2012 , behind the Italian Carolina Kostner .

Leonova started figure skating at the age of four. First she trained under Marina Wachramejewa in Saint Petersburg. She is currently being looked after by Alla Pjatowa, who also trains two-time Russian champion Xenija Doronina .
