Kanako Murakami ( Japanese 村上 佳 菜子 , Murakami Kanako ; born November 7, 1994 in Nagoya ) is a Japanese figure skater who starts in a single run .
Murakami was Junior World Champion in The Hague in 2010 . In the same year she won at Skate America and thus her first Grand Prix competition among seniors. She qualified for the first time for the senior Grand Prix final and won the bronze medal. In 2011, Murakami made it to the podium for the first time at the Japanese Championships for Seniors . This qualified her for her first world championship , which she finished in eighth place. In 2012, she improved to fifth place at the World Cup . She was also part of the Japanese team that won the World Team Trophy that year . In 2013, Murakami won her first medal with bronze at the four continents championships . At the world championship she was able to improve again with her fourth place compared to the previous year. She set personal bests in all segments and overall performance.
