Madison L. Hubbell (born February 24, 1991 in Lansing , Michigan ) is an American ice dancer .

Life

Madison Hubbell is the daughter of Susan and Brad Hubbell. She has two older brothers, Zachary and Keiffer , with whom she danced from 2001 to 2011. The American graduated from Laurel Springs High School in 2009 and then attended Owens Community College.

The siblings started for the Lansing Skating Club. In the 2006/07 season, the two made their debut at the national and international junior level, where they immediately established themselves in the top ranks. In 2007 they won the final of the "ISU Junior Grand Prix"; two years later, in 2009, they took second place. At the figure skating junior world championships in 2008 they reached fifth place.

In 2009, the Hubbells placed fourth at the US Championships , this time in the adult class. In 2011 the couple changed their coaches: Pasquale Camerlengo and Anjelika Krylova replaced Yaroslava Nechaeva and Yuri Chesnichenko, who had looked after them for ten years. On May 12, 2011, the two siblings finally ended their joint ice dancing career because Keiffer was struggling with hip and back problems and left his sporting future uncertain. Madison moved on with Zachary Donohue because of this . Already on their debut together they won the Nebelhorn Trophy , a victory that they repeated in 2013.

The next few years were successful everywhere for Hubbell: She took third place in the US championships with Donohue in 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2017, before becoming national champions with her dance partner in 2018. In 2014 she also won the four continents championships .

Madison Hubbell qualified for the first time with Donohue for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . She took third place in the short program (with a personal best), after the freestyle it was enough for fourth place in the final ranking.
