John F. Summers (born April 4, 1957 in Bethesda , Maryland ) is a retired American figure skater .
Summers performed as an ice dancer with Stacey Smith . After they missed the podium at the national figure skating championships in 1977 in fourth place, they became title winners in the three following years. In addition, they competed at the World Championships in 1978 , 1979 and 1980 . They reached 9th place twice and were eighth last year. Summers and Smith had also qualified for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . They finished the ice dance competition in 9th place.
After that season, Summers and Smith moved to the professional camp, where they became pro world champions in 1981 and competed together for over a decade.
