Joseph William C. "Joe" Tyler (born January 20, 1948 in Chicago , Illinois ) is a former American bobsleigh athlete .

Tyler competed with the US team at the 1977 and 1979 Bobsleigh World Championships . He also qualified for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . In the two-man bobsleigh with Brent Rushlaw , Tyler finished sixth; in the four-man bobsleigh with Jeff Jost , Dick Nalley and Howard Siler , he reached 13th place.

Tyler graduated from the University of Dayton in 1970. He later worked as a police officer in Saranac Lake .

Tyler's brother, James Tyler , was also a bobsledder and had competed in the 1984 Winter Olympics.
