James A. Tyler (born August 9, 1960 in Chicago , Illinois ) is a retired American bobsleigh athlete .
Tyler attended Grant High School in Fox Lake , where he did athletics. After graduating, he switched to bobsleigh and took part in the 1979 World Cup at Königssee . He was also able to qualify for the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . In the two-man bobsleigh with Brent Rushlaw he finished 15th. With his teammates Ed Card , Frank Hansen and Rushlaw, he finished 16th in the four-man bobsleigh competition.
Tyler's brother Joe Tyler was also a bobsledder and Olympian in 1980 .
