James Sladky († November 9, 2017 ) was an American figure skater who started in ice dancing .

His ice dance partner was Judy Schwomeyer . With her he took part in world championships from 1967 to 1972 . In 1969 , 1971 and 1972 Schwomeyer and Sladky won the bronze medal and in 1970 in Ljubljana they became vice world champions behind Lyudmila Pachomowa and Alexander Gorshkov from the Soviet Union .

Together with their trainer Ronald Ludington , Schwomeyer and Sladky created the compulsory dance Yankee Polka .

After the end of their competitive career, Schwomeyer and Sladky switched to the professionals. The ice dancing couple married, but divorced after 19 years.
