Lyudmila Alexejewna Pachomowa ( Russian Людмила Алексеевна Пахомова ; * December 31, 1946 in Moscow ; †  May 17, 1986 ibid) was a Soviet figure skater of Russian origin who started in ice dancing .

Career

Pachomova began figure skating in early childhood, starting out as a single skater and then as a pair skater until she finally got into ice dancing. Her first partner in ice dancing was Viktor Ryschkin . You trained at CSKA Moscow . Your trainer was Stanislaw Schuk . In 1966 she changed her ice dance partner and started with Alexander Gorschkow from then on . With that she also changed coach. Jelena Tchaikovskaya became the new trainer .

In 1970 Pachomowa and Gorshkov married. In the same year she finished her studies at the State Lunacharsky Institute for Theater Arts with the title of ballet master.

In 1970 the couple became both European and world champions for the first time, and in 1976 they even became the first Olympic champions in ice dancing . From 1970 to the end of their career, they were defeated only once at European and World Championships . The German siblings Angelika Buck and Erich Buck achieved this feat at the European Championships in 1972 . Overall, Pachomowa and Gorshkov won six European championship titles ( 1970 , 1971 , 1973 , 1974 , 1975 and 1976 ) and six world championship titles ( 1970 , 1971 , 1972 , 1973 , 1974 and 1976 ), making them the most successful ice dancers in history at these tournaments are. The original dance Pachomowa / Gorschkows from 1973, Tango Romantika, later became a compulsory dance.

In 1977 Lyudmila and Alexander's daughter Julia Alexandrovna Gorshkova was born. In 1978 Pachomova became a trainer.

Lyudmila Pachomova died of leukemia at the age of 39 in Moscow . In 1988 she was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame along with her ice dance partner and husband . In the same year an asteroid was named after her: (3231) Mila .
