Aljona Sergejewna Kostornaja ( Russian Алёна Сергеевна Косторная ; born August 24, 2003 in Moscow ) is a Russian figure skater . She won silver at the 2018 Junior World Championships , was second in the Junior Grand Prix Final, third in the Russian Championships and in 2020 European Champion .
Athletic career
Kostornaya said he was very active as a child and therefore started figure skating in 2007 . At first she was trained by Marina Cherkassova , for the 2011/2012 season she came to Jelena Schgun in the Sambo-70 training center in Moscow . In 2017 Kostornaja moved within Sambo-70 to the group of Eteri Tutberidze and Sergei Dudakow , which also includes Olympic champion Alina Sagitova , two-time world champion Yevgenia Medvedeva and junior world record holder Alexandra Trussova .
In February 2017 Kostornaja took part in the Russian junior championships for the first time as a substitute runner and was 16. After the coach change, she was able to significantly improve her performance over the summer, so that in October of the same year she took part in an international competition for the first time, the ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) in Danzig , was allowed to participate. There she won just ahead of her compatriot Darja Panenkowa , at the JGP in Neumarkt , Italy, followed a few days later by a second place.
Kostornaja was thus qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Final , which took place in Nagoya , Japan , at the beginning of December . There she first improved the junior world record held by Alina Sagitowa in the short program with 71.65 points , before her compatriot and training partner Alexandra Trussova again exceeded this mark a few minutes later (73.25 points). In the freestyle, Kostornaja achieved a score about 0.5 points better than Trussowa, but added it was about one point ahead, so Kostornaja won silver. Two weeks later, she came third in the Russian Adult Championship in Saint Petersburg .
In the new year Kostornaya lost again just barely against Trussowa at the Russian junior championships at the end of January. In March she took part in the Junior World Championships in Sofia . Despite a personal best of 207.39 points in total, she was second in the final score this time quite well behind the junior world record Trussowa, who was the first female figure skater ever to show two quadruple jumps in her freestyle and thus achieved a significantly higher technical value.
At the European Figure Skating Championships in 2020 , the 16-year-old brought in January 2020 in the Austrian Graz the title.
