The 43rd World Figure Skating Championships in 1952 took place from February 27 to March 1, 1952 in Paris ( France ). For the first time at world championships there was a competition in ice dancing .
Jean Westwood and Lawrence Demmy from Great Britain became the first world ice dance champions. Richard Button won his fifth and final title in the men's singles, making him the most successful US American at world championships to this day . Only the Swede Ulrich Salchow and the Austrian Karl Schäfer won more titles.
