Anse-Bertrand ( Guadeloupe Creole : Lansbétran ) is a municipality with 4275 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Guadeloupe department on the Grande-Terre island in Guadeloupe . The inhabitants are called Ansois .

history

The municipality used to be called Anse de Saint Bertrand . In 1730 only 76 Caribs lived in the area. In 1825 there were only seven families left. Gradually they gave the land to the settlers. In 1790 there were 24 windmills and 21 sugar factories.
