Alberto Bondolfi

Alberto Bondolfi (born February 12, 1946 in Giubiasco , Canton Ticino , Switzerland ) is a Swiss Roman Catholic theologian and ethicist who contributed significantly to the development of bioethical reflection in Switzerland.

Life and career

From 1962 to 1971 Bondolfi studied philosophy and Roman Catholic theology in the S. Carlo seminar in Lugano and at the theological faculty of the University of Freiburg . For the next six years he was an assistant at the Institute for Moral Theology in Freiburg under Professors Stephan Pfürtner and Dietmar Mieth and in 1977 he received the Dr. theol. with the award "summa cum laude". At the University of Zurich in 1979 he worked as a permanent employee at the Institute for Social Ethics, and from 1983 he held various teaching positions at the university's theological faculty. In 1996 he became a private lecturer at the Catholic theological faculty of the University of Lucerne , and in 2001 he became professor of ethics at the University of Lausanne .
