Yuri Lwowitsch Ovtschinnikow ( Russian Юрий Львович Овчинников , born June 3, 1950 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet figure skater who started in a single run .

In 1975 he became Soviet champion. From 1969 to 1978 he took part in all European championships . There he never did worse than ninth place, his best result and at the same time his only medal at a major tournament was winning bronze at the European Championships in Copenhagen in 1975 behind his compatriot Vladimir Kovalyov and the British John Curry . From 1969 to 1977 Ovchinnikow took part in every second world championship . Here his best results were a sixth place in 1973 and 1975 . He represented the Soviet Union at two Olympic Games . In 1972 in Sapporo he was twelfth and in 1976 in Innsbruck eighth.
