Bodo Bockenauer

Bodo Bockenauer (born December 22, 1940 in Berlin-Weißensee ) is a former German figure skater who started in a single run .

Bockenauer ran for the GDR for the SC Dynamo Berlin until 1962 and from 1965 for the Federal Republic (Augsburger EV).

Between 1960 and 1962 he was GDR champion three times in a row . From 1959 to 1962 he took part in European championships . His best result there was sixth place at the European Championships in 1962 . In the same year he also played the figure skating world championships and finished them in eleventh place. At his only Olympic Games in 1960, Bockenauer was sixteenth. At the end of 1963 he fled to the Federal Republic. At the 1966 World Cup in Davos, he finished 20th. After the end of his amateur career , he switched to the professionals and became professional world champion in 1967.

Bodo Bockenauer has been a coach at SC Küsnacht in Switzerland since 1968 . He is a certified trainer of the SELV.

His father was the famous gymnast Erich Bockenauer .
