Television broadcast

The talk show was broadcast weekly from January 1992 as an MDR club by Dresden and from April 1992 by Florentina , two ships on the Elbe in Dresden .

In January 1994, the program was renamed Riverboat and broadcast bi-weekly until 2016. The studio has been in Leipzig since 2000 and the show was produced on the Riverboat stage until 2008 . It has been broadcast from Studio 3 at Media City Leipzig since September 2008 and has been broadcast weekly since January 2017.

In 2018, four programs from Dresden were broadcast again from May 25th.

The building

The riverboat in Leipzig-Plagwitz (2007)

The name of the show originally referred to the Dresden river boats that were broadcasting from and was retained when the riverboat, a building in the shape of a ship, became a new broadcasting location in Leipzig. It was built by the Leipzig architect Manfred Denda on an old railway bridge over the Karl-Heine Canal in the Plagwitz district (investor and project developer: Rene Gauglitz).

From 2003 to 2008 the show was produced in the Riverboat Stage , a studio in this building. Events by other artists also took place there at times. A planned use of the Porsche plant in Leipzig did not materialize. At the beginning of 2013 the riverboat was bought by the Leipzig musician and founder of the first Saxon airline SAL Luftverkehr , Uwe Böhme.

After many years of vacancy and decay, the riverboat is now used again under the name Kulturhafen Riverboat for events of all kinds and as a conference center. It is now also home to a professional music academy, a music and dance school and a coworking space .
