Günter Struve
Günter Struve (born March 6, 1940 in Bad Bramstedt ) was program director of the First German Television between 1992 and 2008 .
Live and act
Struve was born in 1940 as the son of a farmer in Bad Bramstedt. From 1960 to 1964 he studied political science, history and economics at the Free University of Berlin , where he received his doctorate in 1970. He then worked as a speechwriter for the future Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt and became head of the domestic division in the Foreign Office . From 1967 to 1981 Struve was the office manager of the then Mayor of Berlin Klaus Schütz , State Secretary for Culture and Senate Commissioner for film funding. In 1985 he became program director for television at Westdeutscher Rundfunk and in 1992, as the successor to Dietrich Schwarzkopf, program director for the ARD joint program Das Erste . In November 2008 he was replaced by the previous NDR television director Volker Herres . Since then he has worked as a consultant for the liaison office of ARD and Telepool in Los Angeles . From March 2009 to October 2010 Struve was one of three moderators of the MDR - Talkshow Riverboat .
criticism
Struve was given joint responsibility for various ARD scandals, including after surreptitious advertising in ARD evening productions or a controversial "cooperation agreement" with the racing cyclist Jan Ullrich, who was later suspected of doping . During his tenure, most of the information broadcasts on the first were moved from prime time to late evening and cut.
