Hans-Erich Bilges

Hans-Erich Bilges (* 1944 in Sponheim - Bad Kreuznach ) is a German journalist and communications consultant.

Journalistic career

After his traineeship at the newspaper Die Welt , Bilges became the youngest correspondent for the newspaper in Berlin in 1968 at the age of 23 . In 1972 he moved to the newspaper's Bonn office. In 1974 he took over the overall management of the Bonn parliamentary offices of Bild-Zeitung and Bild am Sonntag . 1976 Bilges deputy was chief editor of the picture for the departments of politics, business, opinion and external relations. From 1981 he was also entrusted with developing new objects for the Axel Springer publishing house at the side of the then deputy chairman Günther Prinz (including a picture of the woman). In 1986 he became the managing editor and member of the editor-in-chief of the "Bild" group.

In 1989, the then chairman of the board, Gert Schulte-Hillen, brought Bilges to the publishing house Gruner + Jahr as editor-in-chief for editorial development and planning tasks, against the resistance of the editorial board of the liberal publishing house . There he built up the editorial area of ​​the board department newspapers in the new federal states . The purchase and relaunch of the newspapers Berliner Zeitung , Sächsische Zeitung , Berliner Kurier and the establishment of the Dresdner Morgenpost including the regional editions of Leipzig and Chemnitz fell into this phase . At the same time, Bilges was the editorial coordinator of personnel planning in the newspaper area. At the same time, he was active in an advisory capacity in the development of the public broadcaster Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk . From 1992 to 1993 he also hosted the talk show Riverboat there.

Other activities

In 1998, Bilges founded "WMP Beratung AG" together with the former Federal Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher and the management consultant Roland Berger . As its board member, Bilges advised companies, organizations, individuals, associations and governments on questions of public and strategic communication , politics and economic policy. In 2000 the WMP AG merged with the "TV Media Managementberatung GmbH" of the former campaign advisor Hans-Hermann Tiedje to form WMP Eurocom . In addition to Bilges and Tiedje, the former Federal Minister of Economics Günter Rexrodt became a member of the board. The chairman of the supervisory board was Hans-Dietrich Genscher.

At the beginning of 2006, Bilges and Tiedje separated. Bilges founded together with Genscher and former ZDF - director Dieter Stolte the "Consultum Communications" GmbH & Co. KG. Bilges became managing partner and Genscher became honorary chairman of the advisory board, and Stolte became chairman of the advisory board.

At the beginning of 2014 the company merged with the event agency “Hardenberg Concept” to form “Hardenberg Consultum GmbH”. On May 17, 2016, Bilges filed for insolvency for "Hardenberg Consultum GmbH". He then resumed consulting business with Consultum Communications from new business premises on Berlin's Kurfürstendamm.

With effect from January 1st, Bilges brought Consultum Communications into Christ & Company Consulting GmbH & Co KG of the entrepreneur Harald Christ. Private

Bilges is married to the journalist and book author Madlen-Gabriele Hillebrecht (among other things co-author of the biography of Liz Mohn “Love opens hearts” and of Michael Rogowski “For a new economic miracle: 20 theses”). The couple have a daughter.

Awards

In 2001 Bilges received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his services to the city of Berlin .
