Antje Garden (born April 20, 1951 in Berlin , † May 20, 1993 in Dresden ) was a German television announcer and presenter .

Life

Antje Garden was an announcer and presenter for GDR television . In 1978 the then 27-year-old Antje Garden came to television in the GDR and the redhead quickly became one of the stars of the “announcement collective”. Her series Erotisches zur Nacht , which was broadcast at the end of the program and presented stories, songs and thoughts on the topic, was particularly popular . As an announcer, she also took on a guest role in the DEFA children's film Hasenherz , released in 1987 . After the DFF ended, she went to RTL and Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk and was mainly seen as a presenter in the MDR Club , which later became the Riverboat talk show .

Antje Garden died on Ascension Night on May 20, 1993 at 2.10 a.m. in a car accident on Bautzner Strasse in Dresden. She was traveling with Hans-Henry Wieczorek, who was then head of the state politics of the MDR, when he lost control of the car while drunk and hit a lamppost. Her grave is in the Evangelical Friedhof Friedrichshagen in Berlin.

On October 3, 2007, she was voted 9th out of 100 well-known colleagues in the MDR program The choice of the most popular television announcers . She was one of the best-known and most popular announcers in the DFF.

She was married to the singer Rainer Garden . The marriage produced a daughter.
