Pirajuí
Pirajuí is a municipality in the Brazilian state of São Paulo . The municipality covers 821.68 km². The place is at an altitude of 468 m.
The place name comes from the Tupi language . Pirajuí was officially founded in 1915. Coffee has been grown in the area of the city since 1889 . Today Pirajuí has around 20,000 inhabitants (20,745 in 2004), a functioning infrastructure with schools, kindergartens and shops as well as two larger and several other smaller industrial companies. Pirajuí is about 365 kilometers as the crow flies from São Paulo , the largest city in Brazil , directly on the SP 300 motorway, also known as Rodovia Marechal Rondon. The next bigger city is Bauru .
