Do you know Germany? was a three-part quiz show that was broadcast between June 4 and 18, 2009 on Erste and dealt with the history of the Federal Republic of Germany. The prize money was 50,000 euros and the show was moderated by Jörg Pilawa .

Teams

In each episode, four celebrities competed against four viewers. The spectator team was always a family. The prominent candidates:

regulate

Each show covered two epochs from German history:

  • Episode 1 : The 50s and 60s
  • Episode 2 : The 70s and 80s
  • Episode 3 : The 90s and 2000s or the 90s until today

In each epoch, two team members from the spectator family played against the two members of the celebrity team. In each round of the game there were eight questions, each of which yielded 10 points if the answer was correct. A maximum of 80 points were therefore to be achieved per game round. The teams took turns answering.

The teams selected their topic from the given subject areas (including "Fashion", "09.11.89", "World Championships", etc.). Sometimes a film was shown. Then a multiple choice question was asked, i. In other words, three possible answers were given, from which the candidates had to choose the correct one.

When an epoch was completed, i.e. all eight questions were answered, the teams changed their candidates so that the other two team members played the second epoch of the program.

In terms of points, the preliminary round had little influence on the course of the game, as 550 points were to be awarded in the final round and small backlogs could be made up without any problems.

final

In the final round, the decision was made in each show which team won the prize money of over 50,000 euros. A different point system was used than in the preliminary round:

  • Question 1: 10 points
  • Question 2: 20 points
  • Question 3: 30 points

...

  • Question 10: 100 points

In the final, one player from each team competed against each other in a direct duel. The "buzzer mode" was used. That is, the players competed against each other simultaneously (instead of one after the other as in the preliminary round). The candidate who could give the answer to the moderator's question had to operate the buzzer in order to answer. This had the effect that the candidates responded faster and had less time to think.

Whoever achieved the most points according to the 10th question won the program and the prize money.

Others

  • In every show, Jörg Pilawa wore a suit or shirt that had special features of the respective era. That's why ARD received a lot of emails, calls and letters after the first show, in which the choice of this suit was criticized or questioned.
  • In the final round of the first show all 10 questions were asked, in the second show only questions 1-9.
  • In the programs previously broadcast, the viewer family won the final and the prize money.
  • "Do you know Germany?" was the conclusion of the series " 60xDeutschland " and joined the ARD quiz series on Thursday evening. Previous quiz shows in this series are the star quiz with Jörg Pilawa , Pilawa's big history quiz and Pilawa's big trip around the world .
