Television series

Each of the 60 episodes lasts 15 minutes and includes a year and its events in the FRG and the GDR . The series was produced by RBB under the direction of Johannes Unger. For the contributions, the RBB also used material from the archives of other ARD broadcasters.

The program is moderated by Sandra Maischberger , which can only be seen at the beginning and end of an episode, before a recording from inside the Reichstag dome . Speaker Norbert Langer comments on the archive recordings.

The first broadcast of the episodes ran from March 2, 2009 to May 22, 2009 in the first and from March 3, 2009 to June 3, 2009 in the RBB. The series was and can also be seen on other ARD channels such as the Third Programs and Phoenix .

DVD series

The documentation series has been available in stores as a six-part DVD box since October 30, 2009. The DVDs, which each cover ten episodes and thus ten years, are also available individually.

Since December 2, 2010, the Federal Agency for Civic Education has been offering a non-commercial DVD edition of the series for school and extracurricular education. This also includes six DVDs and a booklet that contains a summary text for each year as well as contemporary photos and television images.

Radio series

Similar to the TV series, the radio series also consists of 60 episodes, each of which describes the events of a year in 15 minutes. For this purpose, quotes from the time were primarily used .

The features produced by freelancers at rbb- Hörfunk could be heard from March 2 to May 22, 2009 on its antenna Brandenburg (Monday to Friday, 6:10 p.m.) and Inforadio (Monday to Friday, 6:45 p.m.) .

Companion book

As an accompaniment to the documentary series, the chronicle "60xDeutschland - Die Jahreschau" was published on February 3, 2009 by Nikolai-Verlag. The book, edited by Sandra Maischberger and Johannes Unger, has a total of 264 pages, four of which deal with one year in text and images.

Website

The project's website is a multimedia library with images, videos and audio recordings on important events in German post-war history, which can be accessed and commented on via a timeline. Started on March 2, 2009, the chronicle was supplemented by the respective year for the first broadcast of an episode.

Since the end of October 2010, the TV features and short accompanying texts have also been available in English and Arabic on the website. These versions were produced by Deutsche Welle TV.

For the website, the RBB cooperated with tagesschau.de and the Federal Agency for Civic Education , on whose website the individual films are also shown.
