The golden egg was a game show with Michael Tasche and Jörg Pilawa that was broadcast on Sat.1 from 1995 to 1996 .

Show schedule 1st season

Preliminary round

At the beginning of the game, each of the 130 candidates had the opportunity to catch one of 130 yellow balls with a black number printed on it. These were dropped from a device above the audience. To make things more difficult, the spectators' stands began to turn. Eight people were drawn as candidates. The Leonardo cube was the first game. On a wobbly scaffolding the task was to collect as many eggs as possible. The losing team was eliminated.

Main round

In an individual game, the task was to find as many eggs out of ten as possible. In the end, you could either double the number of eggs at random or take a mud bath. The two people with the fewest eggs were eliminated.

Silverball

The four remaining candidates were locked in a steel ball. From a ramp, the four candidates aimed one after the other at silver eggs attached to a frame. Then the steel balls and candidates were rolled down and thrown against the silver eggs. There was a point for every egg that was touched. These were added together with the points from the preliminary round. The two candidates with the most points made it to the semi-finals.

High Noon (semifinals)

The last two candidates sat in large triangles over the studio pool. The two upper sides of the triangles were each equipped with rectangular fields. The candidates had a control element in front of them on which all these fields were displayed. The candidates took turns pressing a field on the control element. Either an explosion was triggered in the respective field of the opponent or a rivet was hit and only one light came on. If a candidate has triggered five explosions, he wins this game and the opponent falls into the pool.

final

In the final, the candidate can first decide whether he wants to double or tenfold his winnings. The points (eggs) earned so far are worth 100 DM each. A candidate with z. B. 51 points has thus won 5,100 DM. If he does not want to play for the golden egg, this amount is doubled. In this example the candidate goes home with 10,200 DM. The maximum amount to be won was 65,000 DM.

If the candidate decides to play for the golden egg and thus for ten times his winnings, he has to climb a ladder to the studio ceiling and choose between two keys. As the candidate climbs back onto the studio floor with the chosen key, the golden egg emerges from the floor. The candidate's key is designed in the shape of a tetrahedron . The tip can be inserted into the lock device of the golden egg in three ways. If the key fits into one of the three possibilities, the candidate has increased his profit tenfold. If the key does not fit, it will come out empty.

In the first season, the "most beautiful fairy of the modern age" waited in the golden egg and presented the prize money in a glass treasure chest. In the second season there was no longer the fairy in the egg, but a kind of crystal with the profit.

The eliminated candidates could choose a prize from three cylinders. This usually included short weekend trips to major cities in Europe.

Show schedule 2nd season

From the second season the main game started and the random generator of the high noon was replaced by an individual quiz.

Evening show

The big evening show was moderated by Jörg Pilawa. Two teams with three candidates each competed against each other. The finale was a diving game in which up to six keys for the golden egg could be dipped in a pool.

A total of three evening shows were broadcast.
