Marcus Wolter

Marcus Wolter (born January 31, 1968 in Hamburg ) is a German television producer and media manager . Since 2018 he has been CEO and partner of Banijay Germany.

Life

Marcus Wolter founded the music publisher Seegang Musik during his studies , which he sold in 2002. At the same time, he worked for the Hamburg production company MME from 1992 , then went to the music broadcaster VIVA as a TV producer and casting director and, in 1998, was a short-term freelance producer of pilot programs for the Brainpool production company . He is considered to be the discoverer of Stefan Raab and the “father” of the Vivasion program .

In 2002 Wolter switched to the Munich call station 9Live as program director , where he succeeded Christiane zu Salm as managing director a year later . In 2008 Wolter moved to Endemol Germany as managing director .

In 2009, Marcus Wolter founded the Wiedemann & Berg Television joint venture together with producers Max Wiedemann and Quirin Berg . Productions such as the Weimar Tatort, the NSU trilogy or the first German Netflix series Dark belong to the portfolio of Wiedemann & Berg Television. Between February 2011 and December 2017, Marcus Wolter also ran the business of "Herr P GmbH", a participation of Endemol Deutschland GmbH, together with Jörg Pilawa .

In December 2011, founded Wolter with Endemol and TV presenters Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer circulating the Florida TV . The Florida TV production Circus Halligalli was awarded the German Comedy Prize in 2013 and the Grimme Prize in 2014. In December 2014 the merger of Endemol Germany and Shine Germany was announced. Marcus Wolter became CEO of the new company Endemol Shine Germany GmbH. In addition to his duties in Germany, Wolter was appointed Chairman Northern Europe of the Endemol Shine Group in October 2015 and was responsible for the Group's business in the Scandinavian countries of Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway as well as in Belgium and the Netherlands.

At the end of 2017, Wolter announced that he would be stepping down from his position as Managing Director at Endemol Shine Germany on January 31, 2018. On August 1, 2018, he became CEO and shareholder of the newly founded Banijay Germany GmbH. In addition to Banijay Germany, he is also responsible for the production company Brainpool as managing director. Under Wolter's leadership, Banijay Germany GmbH integrated Endemol Shine Germany GmbH in July 2020. With this, Marcus Wolter, as CEO, leads Germany's largest, independent production company, whose format portfolio includes Wer wird Millionär ? ( RTL ), Schlag den Star and Masked Singer (both ProSieben ), Kitchen Impossible ( VOX ), Tatort Weimar (Das Erste) or Promi Big Brother (Sat.1) .

In the beginning of his career Wolter was also active as a pop singer. In 1992 his single "Forever Gypsies" was released by Columbia music Publishing.
