The Hummelsbüttel high school (GHB or Gym Hum) is a high school founded in 1972 in the Hamburg district of Hummelsbüttel . It offers all-day care and a wide range of AG offerings in the afternoon.
history
The high school was founded in 1972. At first, the grammar school was located in Müssenredder in Poppenbüttel , where the Carl von Ossietzky grammar school is still located today. In 1976, the company moved to the north of the Hummelsbüttel district, where the school moved into a new three-story building on Hummelsbüttler Hauptstrasse. There the grammar school shares some buildings and outdoor facilities with the school Grützmühlenweg. The catchment area of the grammar school comprises the districts of Hummelsbüttel, Poppenbüttel, Fuhlsbüttel , Langenhorn and Ohlsdorf .
The Hummelsbüttel high school is an all-day school . The rooms are used in the cabinet system . From 2013 to 2015, the double-H buildings of the grammar school and the neighboring elementary school, which are typical for the construction period around 1970 in Hamburg, were energetically renovated and equipped with a new, rear-ventilated facade, whereby the exposed aggregate concrete of the old facade was covered. Since 2014 the Hummelsbüttel high school has had the title “Environmental School in Europe / International Agenda 21 School”. In the school year 2016/17, 35% of the students at the grammar school had a migrant background , slightly less than the average value of all Hamburg grammar schools, which was around 37%. The Hummelsbüttel high school is a partner of theater and school (tusch), environmental school in Europe, youth debates and the SV Hummelsbüttel.
