Focus

Student exchanges have existed since 1981 with a school in Great Britain , between 1989 and 1995 with a school in Russia , since 1991 with a school in France , since 2001 with a school in Chile and since 2004 with a school in Sweden .

The area of aesthetic education has developed into a special focus. The drama has a diverse history and is firmly established. In the lower grades, as well as in grades nine and ten, the subject is offered as an elective and in the upper grades as an advanced course. Pupils in grades seven and eight have the opportunity to join a theater working group. In the 2004/05 school year there was a cooperation with the Kampnagelfabrik theater . Since 2001, one of the fifth grades has been set up as a music class with increased music lessons to build a class orchestra in which all students learn an instrument. There are also workshops and support courses.

To strengthen independent work, there has been an information and work area with a library and an internet café since 2004 .

In addition to class trips to traditional destinations, outdoor activities have been carried out annually since 1980 in the 7th grade for cross-country skiing in the Bavarian Forest.

In order to enable a broader range of courses in the study level, the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium cooperates with the Gymnasium Oberalster , the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Gymnasium Hamburg and the Gymnasium Hummelsbüttel .

The main building of the grammar school was built according to a series construction design by the Hamburg Building Authority and inaugurated in 1975. This series production "Type 68" has the layout of a double "H". The three-story building with a flat roof consists of industrially prefabricated sandwich elements that were put together at the construction site. In 1978 the building was expanded to include a gym, and in 1983 the entrance area was redesigned.
