Queen of the desert (original title: She ) is a 1965 first performed feature film with Ursula Andress in the lead role. The film is based on the novel Sie by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, which has already been filmed several times .

action

At the beginning of the 20th century, an expedition discovered an ancient civilization that was believed to be lost and led by the supposedly immortal Ayesha. She sees in a participant of the expedition the reincarnation of her former lover and would like to subject him to a ritual in order to preserve his youth and to be able to live with him forever. In the meantime, the troops fight with a surrounding tribe that had previously been kept in check by being held hostage. In a murderous battle, the ruler's soldiers are defeated by the badly equipped attackers who are determined to do everything.

Remake from 2001

In 2001 came under the direction of Timothy Bond , a remake titled She - who is to be obeyed (dt Title:. She - ruler of the desert ) in theaters, with Ian Duncan (as Leo), Ophélie Winter (as Ayesha ), Marie Bäumer (as Roxane) and others. The German actress Marie Bäumer plays the second female main character Roxane, a warrior of the forest people, who falls in love with Leo - also the other way around - and twice saves his life, like he then also hers towards the end.
